If you’ve lost a tooth or you need to have one removed, a single tooth implant in Perth could be the best option to fill the gap and restore your smile.
Not only do dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, they’re also designed to promote the long-term health of your remaining teeth and jaws.
Our highly experienced and accredited dentist Dr David Norcross has been placing implants for over 13 years and uses the latest techniques to replace missing teeth with dental implants. Find out more about the benefits of dental implants and book a consultation at one of our local clinics in Kelmscott or East Victoria Park.
A dental implant is one of the most efficient and affordable solutions for replacing a single tooth and made up of an implant, an abutment and an artificial tooth, or crown.
The actual implant is a small, screw-like post made from high-grade titanium, that’s surgically placed into the jawbone. Acting as a tooth root, the dental implant stimulates the jaw bone just as a natural tooth would. A titanium-made abutment then connects both the implant and crown together.
Titanium is a compatible material that fuses with the jaw bone through a process known as osseointegration. This process allows both the jaw bone and the implant to form a bond strong enough for the abutment and new tooth to be attached. Your permanently fixed crown is designed to function and feel just like your natural teeth.
Dr David Norcross and his team of experienced dentists at Perth Dental Implant Centre can provide dental implants to replace a single tooth, several teeth or a whole arch of teeth.
Single dental implants start from $4,420.
Missing teeth aren’t just an aesthetic concern. A missing tooth can affect the way you eat and speak, and can cause teeth on either side of the gap and opposite to shift, creating alignment issues. Whether you’ve lost a permanent tooth due to injury or disease, or you need to have a tooth extracted, replacing a tooth as soon as possible can help to prevent further damage.
Dental implants are fixed to the jaw bone and because of this, they’re more comfortable than a removable denture which can fall out of place. They also provide stronger biting forces, so you can enjoy a wider and more nutritional variety of food.
A dental implant is the only tooth replacement option that restores the whole tooth, including the root. When an implant is placed soon after losing a tooth, it can help to stimulate the jaw bone and prevent bone loss. This is one of the major advantages to choosing dental implants to replace a missing tooth.
If you have two or more missing teeth, you may consider a fixed implant bridge to replace several missing teeth, a full arch of missing teeth or removable implant-retained dentures.
Not everyone is suitable for dental implant treatment to replace teeth. You may consider a non-surgical option to implants such as a dental bridge or denture. While these treatment alternatives won’t offer the same amount of support that implants can, they can be a simple and suitable solution if you are missing sufficient jaw bone to hold implants in place. Speak to our dentists today about the most suitable treatment option for your needs.
The process for single tooth implant treatment at Perth Dental Implant Centre is split into several stages.
Dr Norcross will examine your teeth and gums, discuss your medical history and take a 3D cone beam scan and a digital impression of your bite. These records are used to produce a surgical guide that will help Dr Norcross precisely place the dental implant into in your jaw, avoiding sinuses and nerves that may be located close to teeth.
On the day of your surgery, your dental implant is placed using digitally guided keyhole surgery. Dr Norcross uses a surgical guide to make an incision in the gum and carefully place the implant into the jaw bone. The implant is then left to heal under the gum or with a small metal cap or healing abutment.
After two to three months, Dr Norcross will check that your jaw has properly healed before taking digital impressions for the dental lab to design your crown.
We arrange for your visit to the dental lab to meet our dental technician who will carefully craft and colour match your new crown to existing teeth.
Once your crown is ready, your abutment and crown are attached to the dental implant.
Six months after your crown is fitted, you attend a follow-up appointment so Dr Norcross can check your dental implant and crown, then professionally clean and polish your teeth.
If you have one or more missing teeth or you’re concerned about your smile, Dr Norcross can recommend the most suitable implant solution for your needs. Book an initial consultation to find out what your treatment options are.

The dental implant procedure generally takes around one hour for a single tooth. If you choose to have your dental implant placed using guided keyhole surgery, the procedure may take as little as 20 to 30 minutes. Once an implant is placed, it takes 2 to 3 months to form a strong bond with the jaw bone, after which time your custom crown or bridge can be attached.
At Perth Dental Implant Centre, our dentist will gently and carefully insert a titanium screw into your jaw bone, known as an implant, replacing the gap where your tooth and root once stood. After your implant has effectively healed, an abutment and crown are attached, restoring your smile and missing tooth. This procedure is common for those with multiple, singular missing teeth.
If the missing teeth are adjacent, a single tooth implant may not be required. Instead, two implants may be used with a three or four tooth bridge, replacing multiple teeth in one procedure.
Dental implants are both mechanical and biological in nature and there are many factors that can affect how long they last, for example the different biting forces between patients and changes in jaw bone health.
Dental implants have been used for many years and have been studied extensively to show a success rate ranging between 95% and 98% over a 30 year period in healthy, non-smoking patients. However, for some patients, dental implants may need to be replaced sooner.
A thorough assessment with our dentist will determine your suitability for dental implants. Keeping regular check-ups and cleaning appointments as well as maintaining good oral hygiene can also affect how long dental implants can last.
When placed by an experienced dentist, a dental implant can last up to 20 years or sometimes longer with proper care. The crown, bridge or denture covering the implant may last for 5 to 15 years, depending on the tooth materials used and how well you maintain your oral health.
Dental implant costs usually start from $4250 for a single tooth implant. Total treatment costs can vary depending on your unique needs, how many implants you’re having placed, whether bone or gum grafting is needed, the dental implant system you choose, crown or bridge materials and the experience of the prosthetist manufacturing your teeth.
